How and Why to Leave Your Bank
March 2018
Many people I speak to are not happy with their commercial banks. Some of the reasons are as follows; banks putting profits ahead of consumers, overdraft fees and other charges. One possible solution is to take a look at community banks and credit unions. their focus is more on the local community, rather than lending to companies and wealthy families. It is important to realize that according to many studies credit union account holders pay fees of about $71 compared to commercial bank account holders that pay average fees of $183. Typically credit unions and community banks offer more consumer-friendly products, but they still require a revenue source to pay expenses.
